MSME stand for Micro Small Medium Enterprises. Ministry of MSME is distributing the certificate in the name of Udyog. In 2015, MSME department changed the name of the MSME certificate as Udyog Aadhaar certificate with the unique reference number of UAN number. So the MSME certificate and Udyog Aadhaar certificate are same. Validity of this certificate is lifelong. Further, the Goverment of India has laid down comman norms of classifcation as MSME for Manufacturing & Service sector.

How enterprises are classified as Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise?

MSME are classified according the Turnover of the organisation and amount of Investment in Plant, Machinery & Equipment. Both the Conditions must be satisfied in order to be classified in a particular category of MSME definition.

Hence, you can apply for MSME Registration, if your enterprise has done investment in Plant, Machinery / equipment’s up-till the limits as specified as above besides having Turnover in above mentioned limits. Further, both new and existing enterprises can apply for MSME registration and get the certificate.
